COST: ⫸ Launch Discounted Price - $150 for all bookings made until the end of Dec 2024. ⫸ $175 for bookings made after the end of Dec 2024. FOCUS OF THIS COURSE: The concept of the "game" [hunting!]. We build foundational skills by having the dog search for their favourite reward while you will learn how to read your dog while they work. We work to form a desire for this game, as dog's rediscover their natural hunting instincts! Growing your dog's motivation, confidence + independence is essential during this initial phase. LOCATION: Calder Hall - 1320 Calder Rd, Calder TAS 7325 HOW THESE SESSIONS RUN: Only 1 dog will search at a time. Each dog will have multiple searches. After your search, your dog is returned to your car [or crate, outside of the room we work in]. We encourage you to return to the room to watch other teams work - you will learn loads by observing them plus we have discussions. This rest also allows your dog to process what they have learnt, between each turn. Should your dog need company while resting, it's ok to remain with them [or bring a friend/family member to assist]. We do this so all dogs in attendance feel safe in the search environment and are free to work, without stress. We welcome sensitive + reactive dogs to our classes. PRE-REQUISITES: ➳ Nothing! WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING: ➳ A [hungry] dog 🐶 ➳ Loads of rewards 🍗🍖🥩 in a labelled container [HIGH VALUE TREATS* are essential - they are best if they're soft, smelly, moist, quick + easy to eat - NOT raw or dry or chewy] ➳ A collar or harness which your dog is comfortable working in. If your dog has not worked/walked/worn a particular item before, please leave it at home. *NB* NO correction equipment can be worn during sessions [check chains/martingales/slip leash/harness/collar etc] ➳ The longest, lightweight leash you have [no chain/retractable leads]. Make sure there is nothing hanging from your leash [charms, poop bags] ➳ Poop bags ➳ Water in/near your car for your dog💧 ➳ Cooling ❄️ or Heating 🔥 aids to keep your dog comfy while they rest NOTE: Teams must attend ALL sessions allocated for this workshop to be eligible to graduate. Unfortunately, there are NO refunds or credits for missed sessions.
